Today Sara and I took our first conjoint guitar lesson. Sara knows a few chords (and seems to be a natural talent) and a friend gave me a few pointers a few weeks ago, but this was my first real lesson. I like the teacher--he did a pre-test, assessing our goals. I told him that wanted to play folk songs like the Avett Bros. Sara wants to play worship songs. Ok, she got the WIN on that one. She also wants to play "Blackbird". Really, I think my main goal is not to give up. The instructor, MH, says that your fingers begin to naturally find the positions, but that seems---unnatural! MH is getting married in 12 days and I asked him if he wanted Sara and I to play at this wedding. He said, "um, no", but in a polite way. Ok, I'm not ready for that, but I do like the strumming and have committed to hitting it like I'm already a rock star! For our first lesson we learned A, E, & D. I can now (slowly and poorly) play the first few chords to Wild Thing and Back in Black. I'll let you know when our first video comes out!

Thanks for introducing me to Avett Brothers!!
Avett Bros vs Worship songs. Obviously, Sara is way more spiritual than you are! :) Rock on!
