Hurdle

Of the possibly thousands of pictures I have taken of Luke, there are many other shots that I wish I could have captured. This morning, I was playing fetch with Luke when his friend Cooper (Golden Grass Grazer) and Steve (Cooper's person) showed up. Cooper is a funny dog--very sedate and likes to chew his cud (grass). Rarely, and only if the ball is thrown directly into his muzzle, will Cooper play "fetch". Luke, on the other paw, is a ball fiend. This morning, Cooper and Luke were both recently off-leash (shhhhhh...), and Steve threw the ball to Cooper. Cooper, decided he could go the extra step and reached for the ball. Score! But, Luke didn't have time to stop, so had to hurdle Cooper--up and over in a graceful leap. I may have been freaking out slightly, because 1) Cooper has never made that extra effort for the ball (yes, just a step) and 2) a year ago Luke and another Golden were playing fetch and they both went for the same ball, colliding mid-air muzzle to muzzle. I heard a yelp from both pups when they simultaneously lost a small front tooth. Dr. DD checked out Luke and he was find, and she diagnosed him as a hockey player that was down one tooth. No pup was harmed in the taking of the non-photo this morning, and Luke got to fetch all the other balls whilst Cooper grazed silently and happily ever after.
