My Wheaton/Kansas friend, Sarah, and her hubby, Phil, are touring the NW to see if they would like to follow in the tradition of many Oregon Trail settlers. I love hanging out with S&P because they remind me of home and we share so many stories. Sarah sometimes calls me Christie Sue (please note: you can only call me by my full name if you knew me since middle school or grew up on a farm near my house). I am STILL jealous of a paper Sarah wrote on Jane Austin's happy endings in Romantic Literature. She/we are still wondering what happened in Microeconomics when we took it our last semester. We went to visit the Ballard Locks and Sarah tried to bring some midwest hospitality to our salty seatown. We were watching salmon skip in the stream and Sarah went up to a lady to tell her that there was a better view up the walkway. They lady was shocked and surprised; I had to tell Sarah that we just.don't.talk.to.strangers (ever) in Seattle! But, thankfully, Sarah was undeterred in her friendliness and asked another family if they would like a picture taken. Turns out the dad's grandmother grew up only blocks from where S&P live in Kansas.
