I had so much fun on my last camping trip of the summer! Stephanie, a friend from UO, and I went up to Baker Lake in the North Cascade National Forest. For our first hike, we found a trailhead with a woman in a PURPLE BATHROBE walking up the hill. Well, you should always follow a woman in a bathrobe hiking, after a short climb we reached a hot spring filled with Ukrainians who claimed they were NOT with the KGB. And, thankfully, they were with their bathing shorts!
Next, we relaxed (Luke fetched, mid-picture) on the rocky shores of Baker Lake.
This was the view a few steps from our campsite. We could hear the river rushing the rocks at night.
I'm a mean Ninja fire cook!
Campfire snuggles
We stopped for supplies in Concrete, WA. The sign on the concrete building says, "Welcome to Concrete". I like a town with a sense of humor.
Our next hike was up to Anderson Butte. Luke finds snow along the way.
Mt. Baker from Anderson's Butte:
This view was worth the steep drive/hike:
Stephanie took this picture after I misspoke saying "Boy, I'm glad we weren't shot by a bear". Well, it was bear-hunting season.
On our last hike, a steep climb in something straight out of Bridge to Terabithia or Lord of the Rings, I slipped on a rock (a mean, evil rock). Luke refused to feel sorry for me because a bee stung his butt earlier in the day!
