On the way home from Portland, Luke and stopped at Lake Sacajawea in Longview, WA. I had read there was a solar system walk. Somehow in my mind's eye I had pictured an artistic endeavor. I pulled over to the long, skinny lake to look for the planets. I walked and walked, not seeing anything. Then, finally I got out my phone and looked at the
lake's page. I read that the markers were "flush to the ground". I thought I was looking for to-scale replicas of the planets, but I found grave-stone type makers. Needless to say, it was a little anti-climatic (it had the feel of where science goes to die). Finally, I found all but Jupiter. When I walked back to my car, I realized that I had parked very, very close to one of the markers (doesn't this happen on the Amazing Race ALL the time?). From the pictures, you can tell that Luke is NOT impressed with my love of astromy. Although I think Saturn is is favorite planet. Why? Just is.
