Around the Peninsula: Olympic National Park Beaches

My friend Katie and I spent a bit of President's Day weekend driving around the Olympic National Park. We started with breakfast at Darby's Cafe (as seen on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives). Then we walked around Lake Quinault (there is a National Park Lodge right on the lake).

We drove up to Kalaloch Lodge (another National Park Lodge), arriving just in time for sunset.

 The lodge was cozy.

The next morning, Luke and I hiked on the beach. I rested/read in the gazebo as Luke watched (I tried to tell him that there was a nice view if he would just turn around).

Of course you have to watch Twilight when you are near Forks!

We visited Ruby beach, known for small red rocks. Katie found one and Luke showed it off.

We found some rocks, fitting for Luke's Love.

As a capstone to our trip, we hiked near the Ho River Valley. There are very few trails that Luke can access (because of the National Park regulations), but this one was a winner. A rainforest replete with ferns and moss.
