I heart my students

Today was my first SU graduation. I had mixed emotions. It was great to walk down to Key Arena (in my cap & gown!), to have a shorter/grad-only service, and to see so many diverse speakers and graduates. But, I missed my Falcons! I missed knowing so many faculty faces, snuggling next to Sara, and sharing treats with Jeff and others. There were many parts of the ceremony that were the same: the awe of pomp and circumstance, grumbling that it was "hurry up and wait" time, and growing tired and extra cheer-some when the final graduates crossed the stage. The worst change, by far, was that at SU faculty are right beneath the stage and I had NO vision of grad shoes. I'm a New Jersey girl...I like to see my foot fashion. But, I am so proud of ALL my students--falcons and redhawks alike. Congrats, I'm glad to have been a small part of your journey. You will shine as counselors!
