Visitin'

Somedays I think I was born in the wrong time. One of my favorite books is Jane Eyre. I love the scenes where Jane and Rochester banter in the library in front of a fire. Ok, I'm not sure I could live without all the modern day sundry that I enjoy (technology, for one?), but it is nice to think about a slower pace of live with conversation at the center.
When I visit Kansas, folks always ask me what I want to do when I'm home. The main thing that I love is going to visit life-lon
g friends. My friends, the Cagwins, have this great built-in porch. There have been many summer nights that I've spent chatting and breathing in the scents from the garden. I also love hanging out at the Cagwins when we sit in their living room and catch up. Even from Seattle, I can picture the warm colors and Norwegian art of this favorite place.

Last night, I dropped by my Sara/Matthew's home and Sara's dad was watching little Max while Sara put Madeleine to bed. It was great to catch up with Dr. Jon, hearing of his adventures of taking school kids to Centralia on the
train.

Today, Sara and the kids came over for a Memorial Day picnic, then we all headed o
ut so Sara and I could sign up for the Seattle 1/2 Marathon (the last day to register for early bird rates). Then, Sara and Madeleine got ice-cream cones and we walked over to Greenlake for a second picnic.
