Point Roberts, WA: Not Oregon Coast; Not Worst Vacation Ever

This weekend my mom and I went up to Lily Point Lodge in Point Roberts, WA (http://lilypointparklodge.com/). Point Roberts is a peninsula on the NW corner of Washington state. You have to go through Canada to get there (yummm...Tim Hortons). When I read about it on the web, I thought it sounded like a magical get away. However, the magic wore thin during long border crossings to get into and back out of our friendly neighbors to the North. We got to the lodge and found it a little less than well appointed and not dust-free. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the beautiful trails and the peace-and-quiet. It was a bit less quiet at night when we could hear all of nature scurry! We tried to eat at one of the only restaurants, but it was closed to prepare for a wine dinner (an there were no reservations open). We had a nice picnic by the fire instead. It was a nice trip, but a long drive (wait) for someplace so close. It was nice to spend some time with mom and Luke. Here is a video of our trip:

Your mom is so cute with the dog. ;) It looks like a beautiful place, too bad you had to jump through so many hoops to get there.
