Bainbridge Bike Tour

Yesterday, Devra and I took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island. It is a pastoral, quiet island near Seattle. Although the ferry ride is only about 1/2 hour, it feels like you are going far away, to the country.

We have talked about biking around Bainbridge for a while, but never executed the plan. Yesterday was our day! I hadn't been on a bike for a while (hey, I live on a major hill that would rival many of the San Francisco hills!) so I was concerned about staying on. But, it is just like riding a bike :)

We had a rough start (we were trying to get bikes in low gear because it is so hilly). Then, I was scared because there was so much DOWN hill on the way to the garden center (our half-way point) so I thought the way back would be brutal. Liz, Devra's sister, and I almost convinced Devra to let Paul pick us up and give us a lift home!!! But, I'm glad Devra encouraged us to try. We made it home and it wasn't that bad. Plus, then the party on the porch started.

Luke loves his "trips to the country", but he didn't like being left behind when I went on the bike ride. Devra's mom said that he cried by the door for about a half hour after I left. But, we had a good time with fetch, a sprinkler, and some treats after the bike ride.

Luke is happy to see the riders return home
