It was a dark and stormy morning. Usually, Luke gets a significant play before I leave for work (run, fetch, etc). But, it was really, really raining. Along with winter activities like extra petting at the door (shhhhh...toweling off), Luke has to get used to indoor recess. I had put away his basket of toys when I wanted his tail to heal; the toys made their triumphant return this morning.
If you come over and sit for a spell (I'll offer you some tea), Luke will bring you a myriad of choices for play. First, he will shake your hand, then gather the red dumbbell. If you think tossing the bone will get it away from you, it will magically, immediately, and perpetually come back. If you ignore the dumbbell, the yellow starfish will appear. Next, the red Kong. It is acceptable for you not to throw the Kong, especially if you take it to the kitchen and fill it with peanut butter. Should you ignore the Kong, you will find the blue jack, the purple UFO, the green spiky football, the black bone, and maybe even the fake tongue just at your feet while Luke chews the three-legged boomerang. Not to worry, the basket will never be empty: my old Aveda brush, Luke's brush, will never be touched (unless you go fetch). Luke is predictable and adorable.
